Joint Personnel Help Residents Clean Mud Left by Floods in Kampung Melayu

And now they are seen clearing their homes and the surrounding areas of garbage and mud

Some 45 joint personnel from Jatinegara Sub-district PPSU and Water Resources (SDA) Task Force have been alerted to help residents clean up garbage and mud from flooding in the Kampung Melayu area.

Kampung Melayu Urban Village Head, Setiyawan revealed those personnel were alerted in RW 04, 05, 07 and 08 which were inundated after the Ciliwung River overflowed.

"Alhamdulillah floods have completely receded and refugees have returned home. And now they are seen clearing their homes and the surrounding areas of garbage and mud," he said.

Jatinegara SDA Task Force Coordinator, Tamrizal added the cleanup action was currently started in RW 08 area and would be continued to RW 07, 04 and 05.

"RW 06 area is clean first, its position is higher and only a few are affected by flooding," he explained.

He uttered the mud in RW 08 area had reached 20 centimeters thick and some of it had dried up, so it should be cleaned in stage.

"We use a water pump machine to push the mud that covers the road access to the residents' neighborhood. We first open the road access by cleaning up garbage and mud in RW 08," he closed.
